A covenant was established in the early 1920s when a parcel of land was purchased in the University District and dedicated to building a neighborhood church and providing a campus ministry to the University of Washington. Wesley Foundation started with three converted single-family residences to become one of the most dynamic campus ministries at the University of Washington. While these buildings have not survived to the present day, the covenant remains, and the Wesley Foundation seeks to continue its mission to university students and young adults with the construction of a new home. To that end, the Wesley Foundation, working cooperatively with a local development company, is making preparations for a new campus ministry site, to be located on the corner of 15th Avenue and NE 42nd St. Come Fall 2009, Wesley will have 3500 square feet of gathering space in the George Russell Hall Building. The space will include a living room, offices, kitchen, and a multipurpose room, in order to provide a place to study, hang out, have fun, question, learn, explore spirituality, engage in creative worship, and cultivate friendships. Thus, Wesley Club campus ministry will continue to encourage and support students on their faith journey. Nearing completion, September 2009 The future entry to the Wesley Foundation! The interior of our space...under construction! (This is where we need your help.) |
